The Department of Botany came into existence in the year 2009. The progress of the department has been adorned with adequate, dedicated experienced faculty members with specialization in diverse fields to impart knowledge and enhance skills. Presently, The faculty members are actively involved in research, as there are many International and National research papers published by the faculties in Peer reviewed reputed journals with good impact factor. The department accomplishes by fostering environment of interdisciplinary collaboration with another department. The students are coach and encouraged through remedial teaching and academic guidance. Departmental laboratories are excellently equipped with adequate requirements. Department plays leading role in plantation and campus beautification.
The extension activities of the department fulfil the need of society up to some extent through workshops on Mushroom cultivation, Eco-friendly organic colour preparation, Eco- friendly Ganesh Idol Making competition, Eco-friendly Rakhi preparation and environmental awareness and protection through student’s activist group ‘Eco-club’. Department regularly organizes excursion tour to various localities and nearby forests to enrich the knowledge about the Flora of the region. Some laboratory visits to provide hands on training. Department is actively involved in overall development of student by organizing seminar, guest lecture and curricular programs. Department maintains botanical garden with treasure of plant wealth, conservatory of rare, endangered species, trees and shrubs which are witnessed of glorious botany department catering the need of students.
